Amy Henderson is the CEO and co-founder of TendLab, a consultancy that addresses the challenges and the opportunities parenthood brings into the workplace. TendLab’s research-based approach reveals how parenthood can unlock career-critical skills—for the benefit of all employees.
After the birth of Amy’s third (unplanned!) child, she went on a quest to learn if it were possible to both show up for parenting and have a successful career. While conducting more than 220 formal interviews with working parents and going deep into research from a number of different disciplines—especially neuroscience, evolutionary biology, and projections about the future of work—Amy discovered that modern leaders need the skills parenthood develops. Armed with this revelation, Amy co-founded TendLab to help companies recognize and realize the value of their parent employees.
TendLab has worked with companies and their parents’ groups at places like Salesforce, Accenture, FitBit, Lululemon, Johnson & Johnson, the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, Yelp, Airbnb, Plum Organics, and many more. Amy is a regular speaker and author advocating on behalf of the power of parenthood at work. Her work with TendLab has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fast Company, Slate, InStyle, and others, and her book ‘Tending,’ will be published by Nationbuilder books in 2020.
